With Kristina Maidt-Zinke, Florian Kessler, Hubert Spiegel and Christian Metz as guest.

The Poetry Quartet turns its attention to Paul Celan, just before the great Celan centenary of 2020 begins. The poet’s volume “Poppy and Memory” (1952) will be subjected to the traditional ‘durability test’ on this evening. Three new poetry publications will also be presented.

This time, the guest in the group is Christian Metz (*1975). From 2003-2010 he was Managing Director of the “Book and Media Practice” graduate programme at the Goethe University of Frankfurt. There he completed his doctorate on the love literature of the Romantic period and wrote his habilitation thesis “Kitzel. Studien zur Kultur eines menschlichen Reizes” in 2015. Metz currently holds the professorship for aesthetics and the history of literature of the 18th and 19th centuries in Frankfurt. In 2018 he published the volume “Poetisch denken. Die Lyrik der Gegenwart” (S. Fischer), which has been cited repeatedly as an important contribution to today’s poetry panorama. Metz regularly writes literary reviews for the FAZ.
