Series Of Events To Mark The Anniversary Of The Reformation 2017
“In the beginning was the Word” – the beginning of John’s gospel sets the leitmotif for the “Luther 2017” jubilee programme and reaffirms Luther’s dictum that God “does not wish that you grope for him everywhere. Grope rather where the Word is, and there you will lay hold of him in the right way.” (The Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ – Against the Fanatics, 1526).
The German Academy for Language and Literature is therefore dedicating a series of four events to the relationship between text and religion, which are being sponsored by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of “Luther 2017”.
