Autumn Conference: Thinking Ahead

3–5 November 2016 Autumn Conference 2016 in Darmstadt

The Autumn Conference of the German Academy for Language and Literature is dedicated to the cultural-theoretical and literary explorations of its prizewinners: Jan Assmann, who questions the religious history of our culture and invites us to reread the spiritual traditions of Europe; Kathrin Passig, who combines different writing formats with the analysis of new and old media; and Marcel Beyer, who in his narratives, essays and poems brings together voices of the past and the present.

On 5 November, at the end of the Autumn Conference in Darmstadt, the Georg Büchner Prize will be awarded to the writer Marcel Beyer, the Sigmund Freud Prize for scholarly prose to the Egyptologist Jan Assmann and the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize for literary criticism and essay to the author Kathrin Passig at the Staatstheater Darmstadt.
