Entertainment instead of education? What is left of Merck’s rebelliousness? What scope is there for a critical engagement with literature and theatre? These and other questions will be explored by Iso Camartin (journalist and cultural scientist, Merck Prize winner 1998) and Lothar Müller (literary critic and feature editor SZ, Merck Prize winner 2008). Christian Thomas (head of the FR Feuilleton) will chair.
At 4.30pm, before the event, Ulrike Leuschner (Johann Heinrich Merck Research Centre) and Bernd Busch (Secretary General of the German Academy) will give a guided tour of the exhibition “Geistesgegenwärtig”.
